GIRLS VOLLEYBALL 2025 SEASON RECAP

The girls volleyball team has had a great season ending their overall season 22-2 and their conference 10-0. The girls started out the season with the CIT tournament but they ended up falling short to Seton losing in 2 sets. The first home game the girls played was against Gahanna Lincoln and they won in 3 sets. A big game was up for the girls against one of orangest biggest rivals, Berlin. The girls played a total of 5 sets, going back and forth all game. The girls ended up winning the 5th set with an end of 3-2. Senior Captain, Izzy Scholvin broke the school's single game assist record with 52 assists. The next 7 games consisted of a tournament, and conference games. The girls won every one of those games in 3 sets preparing them for a non conference game against Archbishop Hoban on September 20th. The girls followed with 3 wins against conference teams. They then played Anthony Wayne October 11th in a non conference game and they ended up losing in 4 sets. The girls then had their last in season game against Jerome, at Jerome. They took home the win and won in 4 sets. The girls then went on to play Groveport Madison at home for the District semi finals on October 21st. Orange won in 3 sets taking them to the district finals against Delaware Hayes. The girls swept Hayes 3-0 winning 9 district championships in the history of the orange volleyball program. Senior Maci Gerboth had 16 kills. Junior Camryn Coomer had 5 aces and Senior Izzy Scholvin had 38 assists. The girls then went on to the Regional Semi’s to play Pickerington North. The girls won in straight sets sweeping the Panthers. Saturday November 1st the girls play Jerome in the Regional Finals. The Neers started the game off by losing the first set 25-19. But, the girls didn’t lose hope yet. They won the 2nd set 25-15. The Celtics then came back to win the 3rd set 25-21. The game then went into the 4th set, Neer’s won it 25-18. After the game being so back and forth the Neers ended up winning the last set 15-11 taking the girls to the State Semi Finals. In the State Semi’s the girls played Mentor. The competition was as even as it could get meaning it was going to be a great game. The girls put up a fight but ended up losing in 4 sets taking Mentor to the State Finals. Some end of the season awards for the Orange girls were Junior Camryn Coomer getting Honorable mention OCC. Senior Delaney Mcatee getting Honorable Mention Central District, and Special Mention OCC. Senior Maci Gerboth was awarded First Team Central District, Second Team All State, and Second Team all OCC. Senior Izzy Scholvin got First Team All State, First Team Central District, and First Team OCC. Senior Emma Cugino was awarded with First Team All State, Central District Player Of The Year, and OCC Player Of The Year. Coach Katie Duy got OCC, Central District, DHSVCA Coach of the Year. Lastly, Senior Lexi Bayler was awarded with Scholar Athlete. Some records broken within the season were Maci Gerboth setting the program record for the Career Hitting Percentage with a 0.375. Next, Izzy Scholvin broke the program assist record with 865 assists. Then we have Sophomore Bri Bush getting 77 aces in one season breaking the record for most season aces. Although the Girls didn’t win states their effort and hard work was displayed through all their games and we hope to see them come back stronger next year.
